Laurentian University Comes Up 10 Million Short

It won’t be easy but Laurentian University plans to balance the books this year despite the fact they are looking at a 10 million dollar deficit.

It will mean some tough decisions for the northern school.

There was a provincially mandated 10 per cent tuition reduction which is responsible for 5.5 million of that number.

The Northern Sustainability fund will put some cash back, but they don’t know how much.

The President of the school says there will be fewer staff and faculty members going forward although it’s hoped attrition will take care of the reductions.
