Legions around the area are reminding veterans there is help available if they are dealing with Veterans Affairs.

Chris Oslund with the Haileybury legion says they have a full time staff member based in North Bay who can help out the vets for free.

“ We have someone named Sherry Culling who comes to our area on a regular basis and is able to assist veterans so anybody who served in the armed forces at any time be it conflict or peace time have the opportunity to meet with her and she will help them get through any applications they may have with Veterans Affairs Canada. She can point them in the right direction for various funding opportunities if they require some financial assistance, or if they are applying for pensions she can help them with that”.

Oslund says you can contact your local legion branch and they will arrange a meeting.

He adds each branch also has their own service officer who can assist with problems as well.
