Visitor restrictions remain in place at the Temiskaming Hospital.

Officials declared an outbreak earlier this week as a gastro-like bug has hit a number of patients on the medical/surgical unit.

All in-patient areas of the hospital are closed to visitors until further notice. Exceptions are made on compassionate grounds for direct family members of palliative and pediatric patients, as well as the Obstetrics Department.

The hospital is taking vigorous steps to contain the outbreak. Increased cleaning resources have been put in place, signage, as well as reinforced hand hygiene practices, and isolation of infected patients.

Children, the elderly, and anyone with compromised health is asked not to visit.
