Starting Tuesday in Temiskaming Shores reps from government services from around the North will be attending a conference designed to bring more people to Northern Ontario to live and work.

It’s called “Come North” and James Franks, the Economic Development Officer for Temiskaming Shores says a strategy must be in place.

The intent of “Come North” is getting community services and agencies together to build a regional attraction strategy for not only immigrants to Canada but also those living in Southern Ontario to consider moving North to help with workforce attraction. “

He says it’s a 2 and a half day conference designed to bring everyone involved together to figure out the logistics.

The event runs from Tuesday to Thursday at Riverside Place.

A similar conference will take place next week in Thunder Bay.
